What Our Readers Have to Say about “The Load: An Over-the-road Mystery”
We have been served well by Doug White. I remember a day last summer when Doug came into our district office and met with me. He gave me a copy of the book titled: The Load: An Over the Road Mystery. He said, "read it, you will like it." I gave the book to one of our innovative reading teachers, Margaret Pettis and she put the book in the hands of one of her reluctant readers. This student hadn't really found an fiction books that dealt with everyday life. He couldn't put the book down.
After this experience we ordered a class set for Margaret to use with her students. The young man told us that finally a book was written that I could escape with. "I don't like sci-fi or fantasy," he said. So, what is left. We look forward to more books by Mr. White.
He has been easy to deal with and the materials have been shipped fast and direct. We look forward to more interactions and success stories with Doug White in the future.

I read The Load: An Over-the-road Mystery and really enjoyed it. It's one of those books you want to keep reading because you just have to know what's going to happen next. My son doesn't like to read, but once I was able to get him to start the book, he didn't want to put it down. He read all day, during summer vacation no less, and stayed up late reading and finished it the next morning! He said it was entertaining, and that he learned a little about trucking and also a little about the life back in the 1800's. I highly recommend the book. My husband read it and REALLY enjoyed it. Not many books are for the whole family!

I really enjoyed reading the two books. I have and am looking forward to the next one. My son is a truck driver and I am his bookkeeper so I enjoy reading about truck driving stories. The little boy reminded me of my nephew's boy who was the same age. My nephew had just discovered that he had a son when the boy was 3 years old. He acted a lot like the boy in the book. The author reminded me of a gentleman that I used to know that had just passed away. I lent my books to my niece who has been to college and is an avid reader. She says they are well written and she enjoyed them.
Doug, I enjoyed the book enormously (I bought it from you at the book signing in Hastings, Butte .) Look forward to your next story!
Doug, j ust wanted to let you know that I enjoyed reading your book. I thought the writing was well done and the mystery aspect made me want to keep on reading.
I read the book. It was great!! I could see you in Jake a lot. It was as if you were standing here telling me a story.
Hi Mr. White! The book was wonderful! I loved it, and my mom wants to read it also. Peter was my favorite character. He reminds me of my 6 year-old buddy Taylor. Jake was my second favorite. I thought it was funny when Jake told Peter to scare Agent Smith. I couldn't believe it when Peter's father murdered his own son.
Doug, just finished reading The Load and I must say it was an exciting book. Thanks for autographing my book and I can't wait till the next book comes out.
Hi Doug, after you left the Meyers shop that day, I went back to my desk, and since it wasn't busy, I started reading your book and didn't put it down till I finished it. Thank God it wasn't War and Peace. Just kidding. Anyway it was great. I enjoyed it so much. I can see a movie coming out of this. I give you credit for stepping up and taking such a huge task. Please continue writing, you have a wonderful talent. My hat's off to you and your future books.
